FroYo Shop’s Opening Delayed

Est. Read Time: 2 mins

A Hellertown frozen yogurt shop that was expected to be open by now might not be ready to welcome customers until mid-August.

Building permits are displayed in the front window of YoFresh Yogurt Cafe in the Shoppes at Hellertown.

Building permits are displayed in the front window of YoFresh Yogurt Cafe in the Shoppes at Hellertown at 13 Main St., Hellertown.

YoFresh Yogurt Cafe will be located in the Shoppes at Hellertown at 9 Main St. and will sell a variety of frozen yogurt flavors and toppings, as well as coffee, tea, fresh fruit, smoothies and organic juices.

The store’s manager, Lisa Jones, said Wednesday that the architectural and permitting process ended up taking longer than franchisees Donna and Paul Novak anticipated.

The Novaks in March told the Hellertown Planning Commission that the cafe will have about 50 seats and a room for private parties.

All of the building permits were in place as of Thursday, and the interior build-out that is now getting underway could take up to eight weeks, Lisa said.

“We’re planning things like karaoke, bingo for prizes, charitable fundraisers and more,” she said. “We are looking to create more than just a dessert restaurant. Our goal is to provide a fun, safe space to serve the Hellertown community.”

Updates on the progress are regularly being posted on the YoFresh Facebook page for the Hellertown store.

A website is also live, and features a sign-up list for people who want to receive notifications, coupons and event updates.
