Carl J. Roberts Jr., 79, of Upper Macungie Township died Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at St. Luke’s University Hospital, Allentown. He was the husband of the late Marianne (Horner) Roberts. Carl was born in New London, Conn., on May 21, 1936 to the late James Carl Roberts and Lillian (Demeritt) Roberts. He earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Villanova University. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Navy. Carl was a consulting engineer in Philadelphia and later for Air Products. He had also been in material handling in engineering a press system for large newspaper plants and smaller newspapers. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker, RC Church, Orefield; a lifetime member of the NRA; and a member of the Astronomical Society.

Children: James C. (Susan D.) of Quakertown, John J. of Lansdale, Terence L. (Norma M.) of Hellertown, Mari Beth “Liz” (Christopher) Younger of Schnecksville, Carol Anne (John F.) Coogan of Emmaus, Kathleen J. “Kate” (Michael) Morgan of Fogelsville; 11 grandchildren. He was predeceased by a grandson: James Carl IV.
SERVICE
A graveside service wil be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 2015 at Resurrection Cemetery, 547 Krocks Road, Allentown. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown.
