A longtime Lower Saucon Township resident celebrated her 108th birthday with family and friends at Weston Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in the township, where she resides, over the weekend.

Minnie Poulton was born Sept. 27, 1907 and spent much of her adult life working in area silk mills and dress factories. She was married to her late husband, Harold, for more than 60 years, and is the mother of two children, as well as a grandmother and great-grandmother to dozens of descendants.

She has been honored by township officials on her birthday in recent years for being one of the oldest area centenarians, and Saturday was no exception, with township council members David Willard and Priscilla deLeon on hand to wish her well.

Cake, balloons, and a performance by a bagpiper with other highlights of the party.
