U.S. troops land at Omaha Beach during the famous D-Day invasion on June 6, 1944. The invasion was a major turning point in World War II, which ended 70 years ago.

The guest speakers at the Saturday, Nov. 7 event at the Heller-Wagner Grist Mill are veterans of World War II who will discuss their experiences firsthand, as well as provide insight into nurses’ duties and what life on the front was like for them. Descendants of local veterans will also be part of the panel.

This free event will be held in the mill’s lower level Tavern Room, which is located at 150 W. Walnut St., Hellertown.

Complimentary light refreshments will be served.

Doors will open at 12:30 p.m. and the presentation will begin at 1 p.m. Free tours of the mill–which houses a local history museum–will also be available.

Free parking is available next to the mill, behind the adjacent Miller’s House and across the street in a public lot.

The Tavern Room and its restroom facilities are handicapped-accessible.
