Joe Polak said he spotted the large raptor at about 8 a.m. near the Saucon Creek bridge in an area that’s currently under heavy construction due to the Rt. 412 widening project.

“I never saw one around here in the wild,” he said of the national symbol.

Bald eagle sightings have been on the rise in the Lehigh Valley area in recent years as the majestic bird’s comeback throughout Pennsylvania and other areas where it was once endangered continues.
