It’s been a few months since H&R Block in Hellertown moved from W. Water Street to a new, larger location at 13 Main Street in the Shoppes at Hellertown, across from McDonald’s. But some customers still haven’t heard about the move to a more modern, comfortable office, which is one of the reasons franchise owner Bob Messbauer, office manager Kristina Fish and her staff will host an open house/grand opening celebration on Saturday, Jan. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“The idea is to let people know that we’re here, that we’ve moved and to physically let people see the new office. We’re quite proud of it,” said Messbauer, who noted that the well-known tax preparer was located at its former address on Water Street for over 25 years.

In addition to individual tax preparation services, H&R Block also prepares tax returns for small businesses and nonprofits, and offers payroll, W-2 and 1099 filing and IRS Audit services.

The new location has expanded parking and services, but is staffed by the same friendly faces customers have come to trust.

All but a few of the knowledgeable staff members live in Hellertown, and Messbauer is also an area resident.

“It’s a national company, but locally-owned,” he noted.

H&R Block’s proprietary computer system and resources allow staff to find savings “that (even) the IRS can’t,” he added.

The open house will feature finger foods, drinks and exclusive coupons for $16 off tax return preparation in 2016.

Attendees who have a tax return prepared that day will also be entered in a daily drawing to win $1,000, which H&R Block is sponsoring through Feb. 15, 2016.

There will be 1,000 winners drawn daily, and a total of $32 million in prize money will be awarded, making it the biggest sweepstakes in the U.S. this year, Messbauer said.

Once entered in the drawing an individual will have the opportunity to win on each successive day, but as the total number of entries increases, the odds of winning will decrease–so it pays to have your taxes prepared (and enter) early.

H&R Block’s Hellertown office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Jan. 16. Thereafter and throughout the 2016 tax season, the office will be open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and select Sundays in February and April.
