Mature trees can be a beautiful addition to just about any property, but proper care and maintenance of them is essential to help ensure their survival and to protect against property damage. Sometimes the complete removal of a tree is also necessary, due to age or disease, storm damage, excessive growth or for aesthetic reasons.

Regardless of the reason for your tree care or removal needs, when they arise, you need to call on an expert for help.

Hungry Beaver Tree Service, based in Springfield Township near Hellertown, has the expertise and equipment to get the job done correctly, promptly and with minimal disruption.

In addition to tree maintenance and removal, Hungry Beaver also performs stump grinding and stump removal to high standards, which ensure that each stump is ground to at least 4 to 6 inches below surface level.

Owner John M. Katelas–who personally performs all jobs–began the business in 2003, after growing up on a farm where he developed an interest in tree removal.

Hungry Beaver Tree Service serves all of Saucon Valley as well as Upper Saucon Township, Coopersburg, Springfield Township, Bethlehem and beyond.

Since founding Hungry Beaver, Katelas has invested in the high-quality heavy equipment that’s needed to appropriately perform tree maintenance and removal, such as a 60-foot rubbertrack area lift.

Most of his equipment is equipped with rubber tracks to help prevent lawn damage and ensure minimal ground disturbance.

Katelas personally provides each estimate, and visits each home while the property owner is available to provide additional information and answer any questions that may arise.

“Our experience with John and the Hungry Beaver Tree Service has always been positive,” said Amanda Fink and family of Hellertown. “He is reliable, efficient and hard working! After our first experience with him, my grandmother also hired him to do a job, and was very pleased with his work as well. We have another project coming up that we will be bringing him on for very soon.”

“He has been our ‘go to’ tree company since 2011,” said Lori Stinner of Hellertown. “He cut our sweet gum ball limbs off, that were a danger hanging over a sidewalk (and) he came to help trim up after that Halloween snow storm.”
