Panthers Fall to Easton in First District XI Playoff Appearance

For the first time in school history Saucon Valley was able to qualify for Districts. The Panthers entered the 2016 tournament as the #6 seed and had to face an experienced and deep Easton squad who were awarded the #3 seed. The Red Rovers were the East Penn Conference championship runner-ups. Unfortunately, the Panthers came up short.

Panthers celebrate one of their goals in the District XI quarterfinal against Easton

The 2016 Saucon Valley girls lacrosse team lost the battle against Easton in the quarterfinal round of the District XI playoffs yesterday, but the future is certainly looking bright for these Panthers.

With a starting lineup that typically features six freshmen and two sophomores, the Panthers fought hard for an 11-8 season record.  For the first time in school history Saucon Valley was able to qualify for Districts.  The Panthers entered the 2016 tournament as the #6 seed and had to face an experienced and deep Easton squad who were awarded the #3 seed.  The Red Rovers were  the East Penn Conference championship runner-ups.

The Panthers fought hard and competed benefitting from goals scored by Siobhan Coakley, Helen Kreshollek, Katherine Naiburg (2), Maddie Stump (3) and Brooke Riefenstahl, but it wasn’t enough to catch the high-flying Red Rovers.

The 2016 season ended with a tough loss for the Panthers, but the future is looking awfully good.  These young Panthers will be on the prowl  for years to come.  Congrats ladies, the Source is with you.  We look forward to your future successes!
