Lower Saucon Township Police announced an arrest Wednesday in an after-hours burglary that occurred at the Wine & Spirits Shoppe in the Creekside Marketplace shopping center on Rt. 412 last winter.

In a news release, police said Leon W. Lafevre, 53, of the 1100 block of Center Street, Easton, has been charged with theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing more than $4,200 in cash from the liquor store’s safe while the store was closed Feb. 22.

Lafevre was the store manager at the time of the theft, police said. It was not immediately clear if he was still employed at the store, which is located at 1848 Leithsville Road.

Police did not detail what led them to Lafevre in the news release, but said his arrest was the result of an investigation into the burglary.

Following an arraignment before District Judge David Tidd Wednesday, Lafevre was released on $15,000 unsecured bail, the release indicated.

A preliminary hearing on the charges is scheduled for July 20 in district court in Lower Saucon Township, according to court documents.

Documents also indicate that on Monday, Lafevre was ordered to pay Discover Bank more than $6,000 as a result of a default civil judgment by Northampton County District Judge Daniel G. Corpora.
