2 Panther Football Alums Begin First Season as KU Golden Bears Saturday

Saucon Valley graduates and former Panther varsity football players Nate Harka (#27) and Evan Culver (#3) will begin their regular season collegiate football careers at Kutztown University this weekend, when the Golden Bears battle the Assumption College Greyhounds in Worcester, Mass., on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Running back Culver (5’10”, 190 pounds) is “highly-productive…has versatility and is football savvy,” Head Coach Jim Clements said in a description published on the Kutztown University Athletics website’s football roster page.

Among Culver’s many accolades earned as a Panther were: PA 3A Offensive Player of the Year, Morning Call Player of the Year, First Team All-State, and being the 2015 District 11 leader in rushing yards (2,934) and touchdowns (48).

He finished his Saucon career with 4,937 rushing yards and 77 touchdowns on 536 carries (all school records).

Nate Harka

Nate Harka (5’6″, 170 pounds) is a wide receiver described by Clements as a “good athlete and multi-sport player, who is a hard-worker and shows great intelligence.”

At Saucon Harka was a four-year varsity letter recipient, a 2x All-League Second Team member, a 2x All-Area player and a member of the 2014-15 league champion and state semifinalist teams Culver was also a part of.

The Kutztown home opener is slated for Saturday, Sept. 10 against Mercyhurst University at University Field at Andre Reed Stadium at 5:05 p.m.
