Saturday, Oct. 1, marked the opening of Sacred Space, an extension of the popular Hellertown new age shop Kindred Spirits Books & Gifts. At a ceremony introduced by Greg Yestrumskas of the Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce and Mark Albright, representing the Borough of Hellertown, owner June Rose of Kindred Spirits, along with her sacred sisters Amy Campbell-Musser, Willow-Duir Rosewood and Michele Slane, cut the ribbon at noon in front of an enthusiastic group of family, friends and loyal patrons.
Sacred Space will provide more open space to continue the spiritual services Kindred Spirits had already offered, such as meditation groups and readings. New services like reiki sessions, spiritual workshops, Kindred Kids meditation and Rose’s newest endeavor–Kindred Canvases, an alcohol-free, family-friendly paint group–will also be offered.
“We are open to all positive spiritual paths, and we just want to let people know that we are here and are accepting to alternative spiritual paths,” said Rose during the ribbon cutting ceremony.
After the ribbon was cut, everyone was invited in for light refreshments, a meet ‘n greet with the sacred sisters and a raffle with prizes which included several gift certificates to Kindred Spirits, a free session with each of the sacred sisters (reiki, angel reading, tarot reading), a free chakra clearing session from The Healing Place, free yoga classes from YogaMos and much more from the area’s holistic practitioners.
Throughout the rest of the afternoon, Rose revealed even more surprises. A large, beautiful chakra chime was unveiled followed by a demonstration by Rose. The chimes will enjoy a permanent home at Sacred Space and be used during different activities at the space.
Each attendee also received a goody bag just for attending the grand opening. The bags contained small samples of handmade soap by Robin Hahn of Magickal by Nature, as well as a sample bag of Rose’s new line of teas, My Kindred Spirits. The new tea line is available in three different sizes and only at Kindred Spirits Books & Gifts, each size featuring four different varieties.
The Tall Tins varieties include Be Balanced (Earl Grey), Be Healthy (breakfast blend), Be Well (sencha green) and Be Refreshed (moroccan mint). The Skinny Tins, which Rose intentionally chose, connect the healing properties of each crystal with each tea, such as Uplifting Citrine (lemon myrtle), Grounding Tiger’s Eye (rooibos chai), Healing Amethyst (daily detox) and Soothing Aquamarine (serene herbal). Mini Tins varieties are available in Be Warm (apple cider), Be Cheerful (mango amazon), Be Kind (raspberry oolong) and Be Peaceful (vanilla chai). Rose said, “All the teas make a nice ‘treat for your spirit.’”

The next event will be the first Kindred Canvases group painting on Tuesday, Oct. 4 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. All supplies will be provided, and Rose said, “My intention with this group painting is to help the participants develop creative confidence and realize that they truly are artistic and talented.”
