Veterans Day in the Saucon Valley will be commemorated with a ceremony hosted by the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397 on Friday, Nov. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at Union Cemetery of Hellertown, 89 Main St., Hellertown. (Legion Riders will arrive at the cemetery at 10:15 a.m.)

Members of the public are invited to attend the ceremony at the bandshell, which will feature speakers, patriotic music and other tributes in recognition of the sacrifices made by veterans.

On Wednesday, Nov. 9 from 9 to 10:30 a.m., St. Michael the Archangel School will host a Veterans Day Observation at Assumption Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 4101 Old Bethlehem Pike, Bethlehem, Pa.

The observation will include a prayer service with students followed by a meet-and-greet reception in the Coll Room at St. Michael Middle School, 4121 Old Bethlehem Pike (next door to the church).

Veterans will be bringing memorabilia from their service years to display, according to a news release, which also serves as an invitation to other local veterans to attend.

Academics for Veterans, or A’s for Vets, and PA CareerLink Lehigh Valley are also hosting a joint education and employment fair for veterans on Thursday, Nov. 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the CareerLink Lehigh Valley location at 555 Union Blvd., Allentown.

Member schools of the A’s for Vets alliance will share information regarding various educational opportunities and benefits available to veterans. CareerLink will provide insight into the job search process with participating employers specifically interested in hiring veterans recruiting for a variety of positions.

Not open to the general public, the event is free but attendees should register by visiting www.a-for-vets.org. Light refreshments will be served.

Academics for Veterans is the result of a collaboration between the Lehigh Valley Military Affairs Council (LVMAC) and a number of universities, colleges and trade schools in the Greater Lehigh Valley. The organization seeks to educate, train and support veterans as they work toward achieving educational and occupational goals.
