On the fourth day of highlighting Panther football record holders, Saucon Source wants to recognize senior Brandon Holub.
Brandon wore #12 while playing quarterback and defensive back for the Panthers. He stands 6’0″ and weighs 180. As a dual-threat quarterback this past season Brandon had 100 carries for 429 yards and completed 61 of 112 passes for 1,009 yards.
Brandon had the athleticism to run option and throw while on the move. As good as his feet were, it was his arm that led him into the Saucon Valley High School football record books. This past season Brandon’s 13 touchdown passes land him 7th on the list for touchdown passes in a season. In addition, his 14 touchdown throws for a career are good enough for 7th all time.
Who’s #1 for touchdown passes in a season? Jim Kugler (1968) is credited with 20 TDs in a season.
Who’s #1 for touchdown passes in a career? Chad Oechsle (1988-1991) threw 40 TDs during his SV career.
Brandon said it: “My best Saucon football memory is when the whole team and all the coaches came to my Dad’s viewing in their jerseys to support me and my family. It was one of those moments where I felt like I was part of something more than a football team.”
Coach Sams said it: “There are not enough words to describe what Brandon Holub did for us this season. Brandon only started playing quarterback two years ago after a switch from receiver. This season he led our team to a third straight Colonial League championship. Along the way he earned honorable mention as quarterback on the Colonial League All-Star team. He also filled in as a defensive back when needed and knocked down the key pass to win the district semifinal win against Pottsville.”
Congratulations, Brandon, and best wishes in the future. The Source is with you!
