It was a 15-minute drive to Salisbury High School from Hellertown. Five minutes of pleasant, small-talk about “Beast of the East” and Sammy Hagar’s Cabo-Wabo Cantina followed, before another five minutes elapsed for wrestler introductions and the playing of the National Anthem. Finally, just eighteen minutes of Saucon v. Salisbury wrestling followed, in which there was roughly only eight minutes of actual wrestling action that included four lethal Saucon “cement-jobs.” A few goodbyes, a brief chat with Head Coach Chad Shirk and a 15-minute drive back to Hellertown concluded the evening. All of the above added up to a Saucon Valley, 81-0 victory over Salisbury.
(My sincere apologies for the lack of photos in this article. It all happened so fast!)

Saucon Valley Wrestling will continue their road show this week with a Friday night fight at Notre Dame Green Pond. With a Panther victory, Coach Shirk will reach the 250 wins milestone, which will make him Saucon Valley’s all-time winningest wrestling coach. Shirk will surpass the great Charlie Bartolet.
Best of luck to Shirk & Co., the Source is with you!
Note: Coach Shirk named senior Abe Lugo “Wrestler of the Match” for his 4-3 victory over Salisbury’s Shane Simononis. Keep up the hard work, Abe!
