The driver of a pickup truck that struck and came to rest on a utility pole on Meadows Road Wednesday was driving too fast and has been cited for allegedly speeding, Lower Saucon Township Police said Friday.

Police and other emergency personnel responded to this unusual accident involving a pickup truck and a utility pole on Meadows Road in Lower Saucon Township Wednesday.

According to police, Frankie Castellano, 41, of the 200 block of N. 10th Street, Allentown, went off the edge of the road and drove up the guide wires of a telephone pole shortly after 9 a.m., near Meadows Ridge Court.

“The vehicle ended up being almost completely vertical and parallel with the pole as it was suspended on the guide wires,” police said in a news release.

Castellano “was able to exit the vehicle and had a complaint of a hurt neck but no other immediate medical problems,” they added.
