An independently-owned gym in Lower Saucon Township has closed its doors after several years of being in business.
N-Tensity Fitness in the Creekside Marketplace (Giant) shopping center on Leithsville Road closed Sunday, just a few days after owners Nick and Eileen Barone announced on their Facebook page that the doors would be shut.
N-Tensity was a small club known for their focus on High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) classes conducted by certified personal trainers.
“Yesterday was one of the most difficult days I’ve had in a very long time,” Nick wrote Thursday. “I had to tell my staff and members that our gym is shutting down operations and closing our doors.”
The decision was made, he said, because it had become “financially impossible” to continue operating the club.
Although the decision to close was devastating, he said “the love and support that came flowing to us from our staff and members…truly left us speechless,” adding that people had sent flowers, cards and stopped by to offer hugs.
Similarly supportive comments were posted on Facebook in response to the Barones’ announcement.
“Thank you for the hard workouts and friendships at N-Tensity,” Kerri Johnstone wrote.
“Please do not think you’ve failed–quite the opposite,” said Rebecca Bitner. “You have positively impacted more lives than you will ever know. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to be a member and hope to continue our friendship.”
Other gyms in the area include Main Street Gym in Hellertown and Maxx Fitness in Lower Saucon Township.
