An attorney who practices in Bethlehem has announced his candidacy for district judge in Hellertown and Lower Saucon Township.

Alan Mege of Hellertown earned a Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Penn State in 1994 and later a Juris Doctorate from The Dickinson School of Law in 1997, according to a news release.
“Upon graduation Alan served as a judicial law clerk, assisting with the drafting of judicial opinions and orders,” it said. “Alan further worked as an associate counsel for local law firms before opening his own legal practice in Hellertown. As his legal practice grew, Alan expanded his office and moved to his current location in Bethlehem.”
According to the news release, Mege has served as an arbitrator for the Better Business Bureau as well as in Lehigh and Northampton counties, resolving disputed claims, and is also an adjunct professor of law and paralegal studies at Cedar Crest College and Lehigh Carbon Community College.
Married to Melanie and the father of Rachael, he is an active member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church in Hellertown, he said.
“I have participated in thousands of court proceedings and have worked very hard to earn the respect of my fellow attorneys, and the judges that I have come before in the courts,” Mege said.
“I believe my 20 years of legal experience and strong ties to our community provide me the knowledge, training, experience and temperament needed to serve as your next Magisterial District Judge,” he added. “I can assure you that anyone who may appear before me would be treated with the respect, fairness and dignity that all citizens of our community deserve from the courts.”
