On Saturday, April 15, Dimmick Park in Hellertown was once again home to the popular annual children’s Community Easter Egg Hunt. After an uncertain future, volunteers from the Hellertown Historical Society came forward in March to take over sponsorship of this classic yearly event. They were assisted by volunteers from the former Lehigh Valley Area AMBUCS (formerly the Saucon Valley Jaycees), who previously sponsored it.
Festivities began at 10 a.m. with the triumphant arrival of the Easter Bunny, who was escorted by local police and fire crews. At his signal the children dashed into the fields in search of delicious hidden treasure. A few minutes later the park was filled with seated families, eager to see what their children had found. Said one father, “Forty-five seconds…now if only they’d pick up their toys that fast.”
With the hunt over, it was time to meet the Easter Bunny. After a few quick photos families spread out to relax, enjoy the park and have a bite (or three) of chocolate.
