Loretta P. Long, 79, of Hellertown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017 at her residence.

Loretta P. Long, 79, of Hellertown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017 at her residence. She was the wife of Clarence “Gibby” E. Long Jr. She was born in Hellertown on Feb. 25, 1938 to the late Rudolph C. and Anna S. (Surina) Pendrak. Loretta was a secretary at Lehigh University for 32 years, starting in the Personnel Office and retiring as a Risk Management Assistant. In the 1950s she worked at the Bethlehem Steel Co. She was a member of the Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Hellertown. She was involved in many area bowling leagues; loved family trips to the beach, traveling with her husband, kids and grandkids; and attended every grandchild’s event she possibly could. The family wishes to thank the staff of DaVita St. Luke’s Dialysis Center, Bethlehem, and Heartland Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Loretta.

SURVIVORS

She will be incredibly missed by her husband of 59 years; children: James E. (Marilyn) of Center Valley and Elizabeth “Betsy” Peffer of Hellertown; sister: Mary Beth (Anthony) Zingone of Lower Saucon Township; grandchildren: Aaron, Amanda, Allison, Pete and Jamie; uncle: Andrew Wida of Hellertown; nieces and nephews; and cousins.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017 from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy, 4400 Baltimore Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19104.
