The Hellertown Borough Authority has announced that a large section of the borough east of Main Street between Penn and Depot streets will be without water Tuesday, Aug. 22, as a contractor replaces three water valves.
Portions of Depot Street, E. Saucon Street, Northampton Street, Penn Street, Delaware Avenue,
Cherry Street and Rentzheimer Drive will be affected by the outage, which may start as early as 8 a.m. and extend until the afternoon.
Major customers in the affected area have been notified by telephone.
Other customers affected by this outage will receive an automated message from the Authority on Friday, Aug. 18 and again on Monday, Aug. 21.
Customers living near the affected area will also be advised that as the water lines are refilled they may experience discolored water or air in their lines. They should run their cold water lines to help clear the disturbance.
The Authority will also be replacing valves on Main Street–possibly later in the week–but the number of customers for those areas will be much more limited.
The Authority Office should be contracted at 610-838-8051 during business hours with any questions.
