The Saucon Valley youth wrestlers continued their success on the mat with a great showing at the annual Stroudsburg Duals last weekend.
The Little Panther varsity finished 1st in pool-play with dominating performances over teams from Delaware Valley, Pocono Summit, Stroudsburg and Pen Argyl. The Panthers then went head-to-head with a tough Bangor squad who took 1st place in the opposite pool. The competition was intense, but Saucon Valley came home with the tournament title!
Stroudsburg Duals Wrestling Tournament results:
- Saucon Valley 56, Delaware Valley 26
- Saucon Valley 68, Pocono Summit 23
- Saucon Valley 77, Stroudsburg 16
- Saucon Valley 64, Pen Argyl 27
Stroudsburg Duals Wrestling Tournament Finals:
- Saucon Valley 51, Bangor 39
Panther youth wrestling Coach Ben Chunko was, no doubt, very proud of his team’s effort.
“It was a good day with lots of good performances,” he said. “But, I’d like to make a special mention of the Torres brothers, Noah (grade 4) and Jayden (grade 6). In the Finals against Bangor, they both won hard-fought, toss-up matches to save the day!”
Up Next: The Little Panther wrestlers will host the VEWL North-Central Division Dual Meet on Sunday, Jan. 7 at the high school. Sunday’s results will determine who takes home the Division title. All of the wrestling action starts at 9 a.m.
Good luck Panthers, the Source is with you!
