Robert J. “Bob” Gori, 79, of Hellertown, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018. He was the husband of the late Marie M. (Deutsch) Gori, who died Aug. 16, 2016.

Robert J. “Bob” Gori, 79, of Hellertown, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018. He was the husband of the late Marie M. (Deutsch) Gori, who died Aug. 16, 2016. He was born in Bethlehem on June 8, 1938 to the late Joseph and Stephanie (Kotash) Gori. Robert served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army. Bob earned a criminal justice degree from Lehigh County Community College. “Sarge” served the Borough of Hellertown as a police officer for 32 years, retiring as a sergeant. During his career he also served as the Chief of Police. He enjoyed working with the Saucon Valley School District as a bus driver for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Hellertown, the Fraternal Order of Police and Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, Hellertown. He was a beloved husband to the late Marie for 56 years, father, pop-pop, brother and uncle. Sarge was proud to call his home Hellertown, where he lived as a devoted police officer and community activist. Pop-pop was so proud of his Eagles winning the Super Bowl. His favorite hobby was antiquing at flea markets.

SURVIVORS

Loving daughter: Donna M. (Craig C.) Kettering of Hellertown; grandchildren: Ashley M. and Nathan R. Kettering; siblings: Edward (Celia) of Bethlehem, Constance Kita of Bethlehem Township. He will be joining his beloved sister: Cynthia Leashefski; and his brothers: Richard and Joseph Gori, in heaven.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa RC Church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. The interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Military honors will be accorded by the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, Hellertown.
