The Saucon Valley Theater will proudly present their 2018 spring musical, Meredith Willson’s “The Music Man,” March 8-11.
Set in 1912, “The Music Man” is the story of fast-talking “Professor” Harold Hill, a traveling con man, who, upon his arrival in River City, Iowa, convinces the local residents to start a boys’ band by purchasing the uniforms and instruments from him. His intention is to flee as soon as he receives the money.
Librarian Marian Paroo suspects Harold is a fraud, but bites her tongue since her moody brother, Winthrop, is excited about seeing the band. As Harold begins to develop feelings for Marian, he faces a difficult decision about skipping town.
“The Music Man” was a 1957 Broadway smash hit, winning five Tony awards, including Best Musical. There have been numerous revivals and film and television adaptations since then, including the 1962 film version starring Robert Preston and Shirley Jones.
Filled with toe-tapping tunes that will make you smile, don’t miss seeing the talented Saucon Valley High School performers, crew members and orchestra pit members who will present to you The Music Man!
