Joseph J. Kupis, 88, husband of Kathleen (Pratka) Kupis of Saucon Valley, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018.

Joseph J. Kupis, 88, husband of Kathleen (Pratka) Kupis of Saucon Valley, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2018. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Joseph J. Kupis and Jenny (Yastrzebski) Kupis. He graduated from Bethlehem High School in 1946. Joseph served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948 in Japan. He was a member of the PA National Guard and served on active duty during the Korean War; attaining the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. Joseph was employed as a crew leader and foreman in the Saucon shipping yards of the Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 44 years, retiring in 1992.

SURVIVORS

He is survived by wife: Kathleen; children: JoAnn wife of Marshall Billig of Cochranville, Pa.; and Marie wife of Paul Bigas of Atglen, Pa.; grandson, Jason Kupis of Washington; granddaughters: Jenna and Amanda Billig of Cochranville, Pa.; and great-grandchildren: Brenton, Jason, Joseph and Amelia Kupis of Macungie. He was preceded in death by son: James Kupis; daughter: Kathleen L. Fisher; granddaughter: Kristin Fisher; great-granddaughter: Kaylee Fisher; and sisters: Josephine Ackerman and Helen Piripavel.

SERVICES

A visitation will be held Monday, April 2, 2018 from 9 to 10 a.m., with a 10 a.m. service to follow at Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will be held at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.

CONTRIBUTIONS

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 4101 Old Bethlehem Pike, Bethlehem, PA 18015. Condolences may be made online at www.connellfuneral.com.
