Those who enjoy a glass of wine or a beer with their dinner as well as the convenience of being able to shop for those beverages while picking up groceries may want to visit the new Beer & Wine Eatery at the Coopersburg Giant, which the company said Thursday is now open.

The Coopersburg store, at 216 E. Fairmount Street, will celebrate the grand opening with beer and wine tastings on Friday, April 20 from 5 to 7 p.m.

“Our associates have been working hard over the last two months to get the Beer & Wine Eatery ready and we are excited to finally bring the convenience of beer and wine to our Coopersburg customers,” store manager Steven Bowlby said in a news release. “To better assist customers in selecting the perfect wine or favorite brew, our associates have completed training programs focused on the expanded beverage offerings.”

The company said customers will find “hundreds of domestic, imported and craft beers coupled with an immense wine selection in the Beer & Wine Eatery.”

Customers can also “mix-a-six,” i.e. create their own six-packs from a variety of individual craft beers for sale.

Along with the beer and wine, eat-in and take-out food selections including sandwiches, wraps, subs and salads are available for purchase in the new eatery, which seats 30 and is open Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays, 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Giant said it enforces a 100 percent proof-of-age policy when carding customers for both beer and wine sales. Associates will ask for proper identification–a valid driver’s license, passport or military identification card–from any customer seeking to purchase alcohol, regardless of age.

This grand opening brings to 61 the number of Giant Food stores and Martin’s Food markets that now sell both beer and wine in Pennsylvania.

A Beer & Wine Eatery is planned for the Hellertown Giant–located in the Creekside Marketplace shopping center on Leithsville Road–but work on it has yet to begin.
