A cancellation of their June concert due to rain meant Hellertown residents were treated to a mid-week music session by The Large Flowerheads, who performed a free show in the borough’s Dimmick Park Wednesday night.

The Music in the Park concert series is presented by the Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce and the Borough of Hellertown with support from local business sponsors.

Food and drink vendors were on hand to supply the crowd that came out to hear the groovy sounds of the ’60s and ’70s with nourishment, hydration and frozen treats on what turned out to be a very warm late August evening.

Since another of the five scheduled Music in the Park concerts was also rained out this summer, local fans of free live music will have one more opportunity to enjoy a show at the park.

James Supra and Sarah Ayers will perform at the bandshell Sunday, Sept. 16 at 6 p.m., and once again there will be food and beverage purveyors on hand.
