Alleged Army Deserter Arrested in Hellertown, Police Say

A man Hellertown police say is a deserter from the U.S. Army was taken into custody following a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Main Street on Saturday, police said in a news release Wednesday.

A man Hellertown police say is a deserter from the U.S. Army was taken into custody following a traffic stop in the 1600 block of Main Street Saturday at around 10:30 p.m., police said in a news release Wednesday.

According to borough police, Luis Marrero Jr., 19, no address provided, was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for an alleged traffic violation.

“(Marrero) had an active felony arrest warrant out of the Army for desertion,” police said. “He was arrested and transported to Northampton County Prison.”
