Robert H. Heil Sr., 97, of Hellertown, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 at his residence. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown.

Robert H. Heil Sr., 97, of Hellertown, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018 at his residence. He was the husband of the late Eva M. (Chromczak) Heil.Robert Heil He was born in Hellertown on Aug. 29, 1921 to the late Henry J. and Verta E. (Hedrick) Heil. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired as a Navy Chief Petty Officer. He was an insurance agent for MetLife, Bethlehem, for many years until retiring. Previously he worked at the Bethlehem Steel for 20 years, co-owned and operated the former Hellertown Seafood Market and also drove bus for the Saucon Valley School District. Robert was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hellertown, where he served as the former sexton and had served on its consistory. He was a proud Life Boy Scout. He was a charter member of the U.S. Naval Reserve Center, Bethlehem.

SURVIVORS

Loving children: Robert H. (Jo-Ann) Heil Jr. of Lower Saucon Township, Rebecca J. (Stephen) Baldwin of Dover; sister: Elaine Fillman of Oreland; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter: Katie E. Baldwin; siblings: Virginia E. Bodder, Richard A, James A. and Henry E. Heil.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from noon until 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 1 p.m. The interment will conclude services at Friedensville Cemetery, Upper Saucon Township. Military honors will be accorded by the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397, Hellertown. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
