According to a post published Wednesday on the department’s Crimewatch website, Daniel John Moninghoff, 36, of Hellertown was charged with DUI after being arrested at the Wawa at 1095 S. West End Boulevard (Rt. 309 and Tollgate Road) on Aug. 7.

Police said Moninghoff was “arrested after an investigation into an armed subject (who) was reported at the Wawa.”

According to court records, one of the DUI charges filed is for DUI-Highest Rate of Alcohol, which indicates that the individual is accused of having a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .16 percent or higher. The legal limit for BAC for drivers in Pennsylvania is .08 percent.

Moninghoff is also charged with public drunkenness in that case, and has a preliminary hearing scheduled before District Judge Lisa Gaier on Nov. 8 at 1:30 p.m.

Four days after his DUI arrest, on Aug. 11, police say Moninghoff was cited for disorderly conduct following an investigation into an alleged incident at the West End Pub, 750 N. West End Blvd. (Rt. 309), Quakertown.

Police say another man–Jesse Sempowski, 40, of Sellersville–is facing more serious charges related to an Aug. 11 alleged incident at the West End Pub, although it is unclear if that incident is related.

Jesse Sempowski

In a separate post, Richland Township police said Wednesday that Sempowski was arrested the following day (Aug. 12) “for carrying a firearm without a license, simple assault, reckless endangering and other charges after an investigation into a shots fired call, which occurred at The West End Pub.”

Sempowski is free on 10 percent of $50,000 bail that was posted by professional bondsman Richard Sparano of Norristown on Aug. 15, according to court records.

A formal arraignment in his case is scheduled for Oct. 12 at noon in the Bucks County Court of Common Pleas in Doylestown, per court records.
