A century after the Armistice that ended World War I was signed, local veterans who fought in the U.S. wars that would follow–along with those who served during peacetime–were honored at a ceremony at Hellertown’s Union Cemetery Sunday.

The annual Veterans Day ceremony hosted by the Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397 of Hellertown was an opportunity to reflect on the “Great War” and to pay tribute to the men and women from our area who have sacrificed much in their service to the United States ever since.

Speakers included Legion Commander Eric Medei and Hellertown Mayor David Heintzelman.
