Local history buffs will want to attend a 7 p.m. talk by Robert Pasquini about Easton’s “Island Park” on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Seidersville Hall, 3700 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bethlehem.
Pasquini has an extensive history and memorabilia collection of items from the park, which was located on a 100-acre island in the middle of the Lehigh River from 1894 to 1919.
The long-forgotten park featured an amusement park, a dancefloor and vaudeville shows.
Prior to Pasquini’s free talk, which is hosted by the Lower Saucon Township Historical Society, an optional sub dinner will be held at 6 p.m.
The dinner includes one 7-inch sub, which can be Turkey & Provolone, Ham & Swiss or Roast Beef & Provolone.
In addition to subs, the dinner will include lettuce and tomato, white rolls, condiments on the side, a bag of chips, fresh fruit, cookies and beverages. Tickets are $14 per person, and the deadline to order them online, by phone (610-625-8771) or by email (ls**********@gm***.com) is Jan. 6, 2019.
There is also a Facebook event for the talk and dinner.
The “snow date” for the event is May 8, 2019.
