Evelyn H. (Rick) Newcomb, 87, formerly of Macungie, died peacefully Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 at Saucon Valley Manor, Hellertown. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown.

Evelyn H. (Rick) Newcomb, 87, formerly of Macungie, died peacefully Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019 at Saucon Valley Manor, Hellertown. She was the wife of the late Robert J. Newcomb (died Oct. 14, 2013). Evelyn was born in Finesville, N.J., on June 3, 1931 to the late John William and Katie (Antoni) Rick. She worked as a postal clerk and eventually Postmaster at Durham Post Office. Evelyn was a faithful member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Durham.

SURVIVORS

Children: Robert C. (Christine) of Cynthiana, Ky., Lynn M. Leichliter (Tim H.) of Upper Black Eddy; sister: Peggy L. Ryker of Ottsville; grandchildren: Travis, Michelle, Justin, Casey Jo, Jamie, Kelly and Clayton; great-grandchildren: Dakota, Caleb, Ellayah, Korbyn, Morgan, Lexi, Braedyn, Jayse, Tyler, Saige, Faith and Oliver. She is also survived by her “church family.” She was predeceased by son: Glenn W.; and siblings: Eleanor A. and John D. Rick.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019 at the church, 821 Durham Road, Durham. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Durham Cemetery. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com. Arrangements are by the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., Hellertown.
