If you love to sing you may want to join a new local chorus that is being formed.

The Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Chorus is for teens (high school age) and adults.

“It’s an adult-driven group, but high school-aged singers are welcome,” said founder Dan Reed.

The community chorus will perform a variety of music, from classical to folk to sacred and patriotic, he said. Traditional, contemporary and sacred Christmas music will also be sung.

The group’s first performance will be at the Hellertown American Legion’s annual Memorial Day Service at Union Cemetery on Sunday, May 26 at 2 p.m., Reed said.

Two rehearsals will be held prior to this performance at Steel City Mennonite Church, 2137 Mixsell Ave., Bethlehem, Pa. The rehearsals will be held this Friday, May 17 at 7:30 p.m. and Friday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. New singers are invited to attend the rehearsals.

Reed said rehearsals for planned fall and Christmas concerts will be held Friday nights this fall, starting Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m. The tentative dates for those concerts are Oct. 13 and Dec. 8, respectively.
