Playing on the road and under the lights Tuesday night, the Saucon Valley girls soccer team (8-4 Colonial League) could not get past the Pirates of Palisades (7-5 Colonial League) in a hard-fought duel between composed defenses and imposing midfields.

With 12:33 remaining in the first half, a fast break at midfield landed Palisades a goal; the single score of the game. The Pirates, playing for a playoff berth that the Panthers had already secured, were able to hold on to the lead in the second half, despite committing a plethora of penalties and earning a yellow card. The final score was 1-0.

Saucon Valley played their last game of the regular season away in a non-conference match Wednesday, losing by a score of 2-0 to Crestwood High School in Mountain Top.

Next up for the Panthers are the Colonial League quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 12, when the team will take on the Salisbury Falcons at 10 a.m. at Northern Lehigh.
