Santa

On Saturday, Dec. 21, Santa, Mrs. Claus and their holiday helpers will be delivering gifts to the children of Fountain Hill as part of the fire department’s yearly Operation Santa fundraiser.

Santa and the elves will be delivering the gifts from one of the department’s fire engines from noon to approximately 4:30 p.m. that day.

The Fountain Hill Fire Department, which is located at 950 Cherokee Street, is currently accepting gifts for the program.

Gifts can be dropped off at the fire department’s rear entrance on Pawnee Street at the following times:

  • From 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5; Friday, Dec. 6; Monday, Dec. 9 and Wednesday, Dec. 11
  • From 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16; Tuesday, Dec. 17 and Thursday, Dec. 19.

The last day to drop off a gift is on the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 20, when they will be accepted from 1 to 4 p.m.

Gifts are also being collected at the fire department’s annual Christmas tree sale outside the Fountain Hill Pool on Stanley Avenue (behind Wawa) until Wednesday, Dec. 18. They can be dropped off weekdays from 4 to 8:30 p.m. and weekends from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Parents are asked to bring gifts pre-wrapped and to include their child’s name, address and phone number with them, as well as a $3 donation per gift to the fire department.

The donations will benefit the fire department’s general fund, which is used to purchase equipment the borough cannot fund.

The general fund also supports a second Operation Santa delivery. This winter the fire department will use some of the donation money to purchase small gifts, such as stuffed animals, to deliver to the children of the St. Luke’s Hospital pediatric unit.

Those who are interested in donating money for the pediatric delivery may give funds to the department at the same time as the Operation Santa drop-offs.

For more information about the Operation Santa fundraiser, please visit the Fountain Hill Fire Department’s Facebook page or call 610-691-6069. There is also a Facebook event for Operation Santa with additional contact details included in its description.
