The Giant Company has announced changes to its store pharmacy hours that will take effect Wednesday, March 25.
In a news release, the company said the changes are in response to its ongoing commitment to customers and local communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Beginning Wednesday, all of the company’s 132 in-store pharmacies will open at 6 a.m. every Wednesday until further notice to accommodate older and immunocompromised members of the community, it said.
“This change aligns with the modified store hours of 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. daily announced last week to service customers who are age 60 and older and for those who are immunocompromised,” the news release said.
Another change is that senior customers can now pick up their prescriptions using the Giant Direct parking spaces at their local store. The prescriptions need to be paid for by credit card in advance by calling the pharmacy.
Once the customer arrives at the store, they should call the pharmacy regarding their prescription pickup, the news release said. A pharmacy employee will then deliver the prescription to the customer’s car, where they will verify the customer’s information and have them sign for their prescription order.
For seniors who don’t wish to come to the store at all, Giant said it is also now offering delivery of prescriptions via UPS mail order.
“The prescriptions will need to be paid for (by credit card) in advance by calling your local Giant pharmacy,” the news release said. “The prescription will arrive in two business days and there will be no shipping charge at this time.”

Giant operates approximately 20 stores in the Lehigh Valley area, many of which have in-store pharmacies.
The hours for the Hellertown Giant pharmacy on Leithsville Road are now as follows:
- Monday-Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Wednesday, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Thursday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
