Anna M. Pektor (1925 – 2024)

Anna Pektor ObituaryAnna M. Pektor, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 2, 2024, surrounded by loving family members. She was a few days shy of her 99th birthday. Anna was born on May 14, 1925 to Yugoslavian immigrants, Mary and Peter Ballek, in Williams Township. Anna’s life embodied hard work and the American Dream. She grew up on a small farm with her parents and two brothers. After her father fell ill with MS, she watched her mother provide the income for the household. The strong work ethic learned as a young child was of utmost importance to her throughout her entire life. Anna and her husband of 53 years, Louis Pektor Jr., founded Mid-Hill Acres in Williams Township, a dairy and grain farm on a 250-year-old homestead property. After a silo accident in 1958 suffocated 23 cows, they strategically replaced the lost herd, focusing on bloodlines, which culminated in the top producing dairy herd in Pennsylvania in the ’60s and ’70s. Later, the couple turned to grain farming, harvesting corn and soybeans, and farming over 1,000 acres. Anna was actively involved in the milking operations, working the fields alongside her husband, driving tractors and farm trucks. Anna was a member of St. Luke’s Old Williams Lutheran Church in Williams Township. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, tracking and trading both stock and commodity markets daily, mowing her lawn and spending time with her grandchildren, many of whom she taught to drive.

Anna is survived by her two loving sons: Leslie Pektor (and his wife Judy) and Louis Pektor, as well as her five grandchildren: Ryan (his wife Kathy), Chris (his wife Allison), Lisa (her husband Chris), Amy and George; and five great-granddaughters: Ava, Morgan, Kate, Kennedy and Adalind.
