ArtsQuest will screen free family movies at times to suit people of all ages on Wednesdays this summer at of two of its South Bethlehem venues.

Lehigh Valley International Airport and Lehigh Valley Health Network are presenting the family-friendly series, which will include outdoor showings at the Levitt Pavilion at SteelStacks and indoor showings at the nearby Frank Banko Alehouse Cinema. Seating at Levitt Pavilion will be outdoors on the grass, so attendees should plan to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Inside the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinema, which is located in the ArtsQuest Center, the series will include sensory-friendly screenings specifically designed for children and adults living with autism.

“As part of the film screenings, talking and walking are permitted, and stimming (self-regulation behavior) is encouraged,” a news release said. “The theater’s house lights are dimmed but remain on, while the film volume is lowered and previews are eliminated, all in an effort to provide a comfortable viewing experience for attendees. Additionally, families with special dietary needs are allowed to bring food from home.”

Films being shown outside at the Levitt Pavilion will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the sensory-friendly films in Frank Banko Alehouse Cinema starting at 1:30 p.m. Free parking will be available in the lots along First Street, with food and beverages available for purchase from the Mack Truck Stop at the Levitt Pavilion and the ArtsQuest Center at Steelstacks.

“It’s always exciting when ArtsQuest and ABE find new ways to grow our ongoing partnership in ways that benefit families across the region,” said Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority Executive Director Thomas Stoudt. “We welcome everyone to enjoy this free entertainment and are counting down the days to showtime.”
