House Fire
The charred remnants of a house fire that left a family homeless were visible in the 1900 block of Springtown Hill Road in Lower Saucon Township Wednesday afternoon. Online fundraising efforts are under way in support of Keri Diamond and her two children, who are Saucon Valley students. The family wasn’t home at the time, but lost some of their pets in the blaze.

A Wednesday morning house fire in the 1900 block of Springtown Hill Road in Lower Saucon Township has temporarily left a single mother and two school-age children without the safety and security of their home. No family members were reported to be home at the time of the blaze, but five family pets were reported to have died in the fire, which remains under investigation.

At least two GoFundMe pages have been created to help raise money for Keri Diamond and her kids, who “lost…all of their belongings” according to Cassie Rose, who created one of the pages.

“Keri Diamond, a lifelong member of our community, lost EVERYTHING in her home, including her four dogs and one cat,” wrote co-organizers Eilidh Buntine and Adele FaRannte in the description for the other GoFundMe page. “Fortunately, her and her children, Aiden, a student at Saucon Valley High School, and Hailey, a student at Saucon Valley Middle School, are safe and unharmed. Unfortunately, they lost everything except the clothes on their back.”

The page “Assist a Mom and Kids After Tragedy” has a fundraising goal of $25,000. As of Wednesday afternoon, approximately $850 toward that goal had been raised. The page “Help Keri Diamond Rebuild After Tragic Fire” has a $7,000 goal and had raised approximately $1,625 by late Wednesday afternoon.

A gift card and clothing drive is also being planend for the Diamond family, according to a Facebook post by FaRannte.

The fire in the Diamonds’ ranch home set back from the roadway broke out sometime before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. It was around that time that Lower Saucon Township Police warned motorists to avoid the area due to fire company activity at the scene, which required the closure of Springtown Hill Road between Mount Pleasant Road and Rt. 412.

Wednesday’s blaze is the second in as many weeks to leave a township family homeless. In late March, a fire on Mockingbird Hill Road partially destroyed a home and displaced its residents.
