A 35-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a tractor-trailer in the 300 block of S. Third St. (Rt. 309) in Coopersburg early Sunday morning.

Lehigh County Coroner Dan Buglio said the Lower Macungie Township resident was a pedestrian, but did not release his name.

“(He) has been positively identified; however, I will not be releasing his identity today to allow the family to grieve privately,” Buglio said in a statement. He added that the man’s identity will be released following the completion of an autopsy that is scheduled for Monday at 10 a.m. at the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office & Forensics Center in Allentown.

Buglio said the accident occurred at approximately 3:25 a.m. Sunday.

In addition to the coroner’s office, the Coopersburg Police Department, the Lehigh County District Attorney’s office and the Lehigh County Crash Team are also investigating the incident.
