The weather for the Farm Market at Passer’s opening day in Springfield Township was hot and sunny, as residents flocked to check out offerings from more than a dozen local vendors.
Opening day vendors included All Things Gourmet Catering, Dragonfly Hill Farm, Dreamland Farmstead, First Fruits Farm, Hausman’s Fruit Farm, Onward Coffee, Polk Valley Farm, Heaton Farm, Heritage Baking Co., Hinterhof Farm, Fork’d Pierogies, The Worthy Dessert and The Healing Dandelion.
The new farmers market is being held at the Passer Community Association at 2580 Richlandtown Pike, Coopersburg–about 10 minutes south of Hellertown–on Wednesdays from 3 to 6 p.m. through the end of August. In addition to supporting local farmers and producers, funds raised by the market support the association and its efforts to preserve the history of the local community, which is centered around an 1877 schoolhouse located on the property.
Vendors selling everything from local produce to baked goods to freshly-cut flowers are looking forward to welcoming new customers to the weekly event. Live music is also part of the market, which is led by volunteer organizers Kristin Roth, Wandy Principe-Bush and Carolyn Marotta.

Several people practice qi gong, a traditional Chinese meditative activity that incorporates flowing movement and controlled breathing. The free class is led by the Healing Dandelion, an herbalist business owned by Kristin Roth. In addition to being a vendor, Roth is also one of three volunteer organizers of the Farm Market at Passer, along with Wandy Principe-Bush (Dragonfly Hill Farm & Kitchen) and Carolyn Marotta (Dreamland Farmstand).
Fork’d Pierogies owner Abbey Gordon and an employee were on hand for opening day of the Farm Market at Passer. Fork’d is also a vendor at the Saucon Valley Farmers Market, which is held Sundays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. next to the Hellertown Area Library.
