Learn to Swim, Get Fit at Fountain Hill Pool This Summer

If you like hot weather, this week will be a treat for you, as temperatures approach 100 degrees for the first time in years.
As the photos below demonstrate, the Fountain Hill Pool is a great place to beat the extreme heat, and over the summer it will also be a place to get in shape and learn to swim.
Swimming lessons for children ages four and older will be offered in four-day sessions at the pool beginning Tuesday, June 24. The five sessions scheduled are for June 24-27, July 8-11, July 15-18, July 22-25 and July 29-Aug. 1. Three levels of swim lessons are available: Level 1, Introduction to Water (for kids who can’t yet put their face in the water); Level 2, Fundamentals of Aquatic Skills (Underwater Swimming and Kickboard Use); and Level 3, Stroke Development (learn different strokes). The cost of each session is $40 per participant. To register for swim lessons at the Fountain Hill Pool, call 610-867-0301.

Adults who would like to improve their fitness levels with low-impact exercise can also take advantage of Aqua Fit classes led by local trainer Anne-Marie Lee, which will be held Wednesdays from 11:15 a.m. to noon at the pool. The first of these classes will be held July 2. Each class costs $5 per person, which is a fee paid separately from the cost of admission to the pool.
Weather permitting, the Fountain Hill Pool is open daily, except for Monday, from noon to 7 p.m. Information about daily rates and season passes may be found on the Fountain Hill borough website.

The pool is located at Dodson and Spiegel streets. The complex includes a kiddie pool, a water slide, shaded areas, a pavilion, a snack stand and other amenities.
