Coopersburg Bank Branch to Change Hands
A number of local bank branches will soon be changing hands, due to their sale by Santander Bank. Among them is the Santander branch at 240 S. Third Street in Coopersburg.
According to a Santander news release, the Coopersburg branch along with six other branches in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Emmaus and Whitehall have been purchased by Community Bank, whic has approximately 200 other branches throughout Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont and Massachusetts.
The sale is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to be completed by the end of the year, according to a Santander Bank news release.
“Santander Bank will communicate with impacted customers, as it works to ensure a smooth transition,” the release said. It further noted that the sale of the Santander branches is part of the company’s transformation into a “national, digital-first bank with branches.”
In a separate news release, Community Bank said the purchase of the seven branches is part of its expansion in the Lehigh Valley, and that “all branches will remain open and all employees will be offered continued employment.”
“The acquisition, together with Community Bank’s existing branches in the market and its pending de novo locations, brings Community Bank’s total retail locations in the Greater Lehigh Valley to 12,” it noted.
According to an online locator, Community Bank currently has branches in Lehighton and Lansford, in Carbon County, along with a branch on Corporate Parkway in Center Valley that only serves residential mortgage and commercial banking clients.
