Where to Watch Fourth of July Fireworks
Although there won’t be any professional fireworks displays in Saucon Valley on Independence Day, there will be several large shows held close by.
The closest will be in Bethlehem, where the city’s fireworks show will begin around 9:15 p.m. Popular viewing locations include the Hill-to-Hill and Fahy bridges, Payrow Plaza next to Bethlehem City Hall and the SteelStacks complex on the South Side.
In Quakertown, fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m., at the conclusion of Quakertown Community Day. The day-long, free event celebrating community spirit in the borough will include a car show, vendors, food, musical performances, demonstrations, fire department water battles and more.
In Allentown, the Great American Blast at Coca-Cola Park will begin at 6 p.m. and include a fireworks show at 9:15 p.m. More information about the event and tickets for it maybe found online.
In Hellertown, there is traditionally a fireworks display at the conclusion of the annual Dewey Fire Co. Carnival, which is scheduled to be held July 8-12. Fire company officials said last month that they need financial support from the community to ensure that this year’s fireworks display is held.
“We are in need of sponsors to help offset the cost of the spectacular, and very expensive, fireworks display as well as some of the food costs,” a Dewey Facebook post said. “Without the community’s support, we are at risk of not being able to host this event moving forward as the expenses take away from our funds used to maintain the firehouse and purchase the lifesaving equipment that serves Hellertown Borough and surrounding communities.”
Dewey subsequently launched a fundraiser with a goal of raising $17,000. As of Thursday, a little over $1,000 had been raised.
Dewey’s fireworks show is normally held the Friday of carnival week, unless there is inclement weather, in which case it is held Saturday.
