PHOTOS: Construction of Hellertown Sheetz Under Way
UPDATE: A representative for Sheetz confirmed Aug. 19 that the Hellertown “location is tentatively scheduled to open to the public in late 2025.”
Commercial development at the north end of Hellertown is drawing attention from passers-by and local residents. Along with the construction of a new microhospital and medical office building on the site of the former Champion spark plug factory, Altoona-based Sheetz is building a new convenience store and gas station an adjacent property to the south.
A used car dealership that was previously located at Kichline Avenue and Main Street was demolished earlier this year to make way for the Sheetz, which will occupy a prime site along the Rt. 412 corridor, opposite the I-78 eastbound ramps.
Saucon Source has contacted Sheetz’s public relations department for information about when the company estimates the new store will open. When it does, it will be the fifth gas station in the borough.
Sheetz has a number of other locations in the area, including a store on Rt. 412 in Bethlehem that opened in May 2024. Other nearby stores are located on Schoenersville Road in Bethlehem, Lehigh Street in Allentown and Rt. 248 in Palmer Township. A store is also planned for construction at the Saucon Square shopping center on Rt. 378 in Lower Saucon Township.
