One of a small number of stores in the Saucon Valley area that sell high end furniture and home decor has announced that it will close next month.

GailGray Home Furnishings & Design at the Promenade Saucon Valley in Center Valley is currently holding a liquidation sale, with plans to close on Sept. 10. As of Friday, the store was advertising 50 percent off remaining merchandise store-wide.

“This decision was not made lightly, and we want to express our deepest gratitude for your support throughout the years,” a statement by co-owners Gail Gray Dunn and Carolyn Gagnon said.

In the statement, which was shared on the store’s Facebook page, Dunn and Gagnon said all outstanding custom orders will be filled before the store closes.

“We appreciate your understanding during this transition and hope to see you before we close,” they said.

Anyone with questions or concerns can call the store at 484-223-3301 or email info@gailgrayhome.com.

Channel 69 News reported that the decision to close the store was due to Dunn’s retirement and economic factors, including a downturn in sales that followed a brief uptick during the Covid pandemic.

A number of GailGray customers have shared their sadness at the news that the store is closing on Facebook.

“Very sad news. Your store was a special part of our community,” said one customer.

“How sad,” added another. “I look at the beautiful pieces we’ve purchased when your shop was on Broad Street in Bethlehem. I will miss your Christmas open house, it was always so special.”

Promenade Saucon Valley is home to approximately 70 restaurants, shops and other retail and service-based establishments.

Recently-announced additions to the lineup of businesses there include Barley Creek Brewing Company and Sephora.
