Charles E. “Charlie” Bartolet Jr., 88, of Lower Saucon Township, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025 at Moravian Village, Bethlehem, with his wife at his side. He was the husband of Rita (Roseman) Bartolet. Charlie was born in Harrisburg on Oct. 1, 1937, and was the son of the late Charles E. Sr. and Eleanor (Holtzman) Bartolet. He graduated from Easton High School in 1957, Moravian College in 1960 and earned his master’s degree from Lehigh University in 1966. A dedicated administrator, educator, school board member and coach, Charlie devoted over 50 years of service to the Hellertown-Lower Saucon/Saucon Valley School District. His passion for teaching and commitment to his students influenced countless lives. He had a unique teaching approach. He was known for his loud, stern and silly phrases, which many of his former students still remember today. As the head wrestling coach from 1960 to 1985, he and his staff constructed nine individual state champions, one team state title, two District 11 team titles and 11 league championships all in “AAA.” Bartolet’s dual-meet record was 248-122-8. Charlie was the “AAA” Pennsylvania State Coach of the Year in 1976. He was inducted in 1988 into the Pennsylvania & National Wrestling Halls of Fame, in 2012 into the Saucon Valley Athletic Hall of Fame and into the District XI Wrestling Hall of Fame. Charlie was an assistant football coach for Saucon Valley and umpired high school and Legion baseball. After retirement from administration and teaching, Charlie was elected to the Saucon Valley School Board and served 10 years until 2015. A dedicated community member, Charlie was honored with the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award from the Saucon Valley Lions, recognizing his commitment to humanitarian service. He and his wife Rita delivered Meals on Wheels for Northampton County for many years. Charlie was a member of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Hellertown.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his loving wife of 58 years; niece: Lora (Jared) Levin; nephews: Daniel (Tammy) Bartolet and Terry A. Bartolet; great niece: Isabel Levin; great nephews: Peter Levin and Daniel Bartolet Jr. He was predeceased by his brother: Dr. Terry Lee Bartolet.

SERVICES

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 7, 2025 at St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown, PA 18055. At Charlie’s request, there will be no calling hours. The interment will follow at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Arrangements are by the Connell Falk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Hellertown.
