DUI Roving Patrol Results in 3 Arrests
A DUI roving patrol conducted by Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast over the weekend resulted in the arrest of three motorists suspected of driving under the influence.
According to a news release, the patrol was conducted on sections of I-78, Rt. 33 and Rt. 22 in Northampton County from 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12 through 3 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13. A patrol through Sunday was originally planned, but due to winter weather it was shortened.
Police said that in addition to the DUI arrests, 28 motorists were issued traffic citations and 29 motorists were issued warnings.
The goal of a sobriety checkpoint or roving patrol, the news release said, “is to reduce the number of alcohol and drug related fatal and serious crashes, and to reduce the number of DUI drivers on Pennsylvania’s highways.”
