Alfred B. Wertz (1930 – 2025)

Alfred B. Wertz, 95, of Hellertown, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Gail S. Daley-Wertz, whom he married on Feb. 23, 1993. Born in Newark, N.J., on Oct. 2, 1930, Alfred was the son of the late Cora (Bluett) Ritter. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard during the Korean War. Alfred enjoyed a long and accomplished career as a computer programmer and engineer. He was employed at Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital in Parsippany-Troy Hills, N.J., worked as an engineer at Bell Laboratories and later served the State of New Jersey as a computer programmer. A man of many talents and interests, Alfred was especially passionate about building and rebuilding cars, with a particular love for vehicles from the muscle car era. He also enjoyed airplanes and sailing; pursuits that reflected his lifelong curiosity and mechanical skill.
SURVIVORS
In addition to his wife, Gail, Alfred is survived by his children, Stephanie (Stephen) Cecchini of Fairhope, Ala., and John V. (Christina) DeLousia of Clark, N.J.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
