Dorothy Irene Ganssle, age 98, formerly of Lower Saucon Township and most recently of Abington Manor, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Lower Saucon Township. She was the beloved wife of the late Howard F. Ganssle, who died on July 19, 2017. The couple were married on Sept. 4, 1948, and shared many loving years together. Born in Freemansburg on Dec. 27, 1927, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Paul and Bertha (Sepman) Beil. Dorothy was devoted to her family and home, serving proudly as a housewife. She also worked as a librarian assistant at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary RC Church in Colesville and was formerly employed by Beckett’s Catering in Hellertown. A faithful member of Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, she generously volunteered her time and talents in service to her church community.

SURVIVORS

She is survived by her loving children: Edward P. Ganssle (Christine) of Carlisle, Jane I. Ronyack (Robert) of Bethlehem, Patrick N. Ganssle (Lucyna) of Bath and Dennis R. Ganssle (Barb Gibson) of Bethlehem. She is also survived by eight cherished grandchildren: Dana, Dustin, Loren, Kristi, Jessica, Jason, Chad and Amber; nine great-grandchildren: Declan, Paige, Keaton, Paul, Chase, Blaire, June, Brayden and Coltyn. Dorothy was preceded in death by her infant son, Howard Ganssle, in 1952, and by her siblings: James, Joseph E., David, Lillian Fahey and Shirley Luybli; daughter-in-law: Theresa Ganssle.

SERVICES

Family and friends are invited to a visitation period from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, at Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The visitation period will be followed by a prayer service at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
